About Society Glo
The Society Glo app is a free location-based community bulletin board, which highlights elected officials, businesses, and nonprofit organizations that are committed to building strong communities. The goal of the Society Glo app is to allow people easy access to elected officials, resources and businesses who are actually doing the work to help build a better society.
We are living in a time of extreme cynicism and skepticism of government and business systems. Unfortunately, we are also living in a time of information overload. Social Media has blurred the lines between what’s real and what’s fake, and this country has become more and more divided. This division only seems to be getting worse because people with malicious intent are using social media platforms to spread misinformation and lies. The business model for social media is based on algorithms, which keeps customers engaged at all cost. It doesn’t matter if the information presented on social media is true or false, the overall goal is to keep the customer engaged on the platform. Platforms like X, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc… have made billions of dollars using algorithms to promote customer loyalty. Whether or not the information is fact or fiction, positive or negative, is inconsequential. The business model is about growing users and addicting them to the platform so advertisers will spend top dollar to promote their products or services.
The biggest problem in our society is the ignorance and apathy to learning the truth. Social media gives a voice to the voiceless but we know information shared on social media is not vetted for accuracy, but rather, promoted for engagement.
The anonymity of the people who can make a big difference in our local communities is a big problem. Elected officials who want our votes every 2, 4, or 6 years should be way more visible to the community they represent. If you ask a person in any city in the United States to name their city council members, or state assembly members, or their state senators, 9 out 10 won’t be able to answer that question. Specifically, young adults and minorities do not feel like their government is truly representing their concerns or interests. That is a huge problem!
The Society Glo app only allows verified business leaders and elected officials to post on the platform. There is NO algorithm and posts are shown based on location. The goal of the Society Glo app is to connect the people to their local, regional, and national government officials.
Society Glo will also aim to connect community members with businesses and nonprofit organizations as well as resources available in those communities for the people who need it most. It should be a priority for business and community leaders to restore belief in our values and make a commitment to a great society for all.

About the Founder, Kevin Linney
My name is Kevin Linney and I am the founder of the Society Glo app. I grew up in a diverse middle class neighborhood in Sacramento, Ca. I attended college at the University of Georgia and majored in general business and psychology. After college I moved back to California where I currently live and work in the pharmaceutical industry. I also own the sayeYO app, which is a multimedia storage, sharing, communication, and networking app for people in the music and entertainment industry. All of my accomplishments happened because I had access to resources and opportunities that could help me achieve my goals.
I was lucky enough to have parents that could provide me with financial and emotional resources to help me stay on track and reach my objectives. Any obstacles or challenges I've faced in life, I knew I could overcome because of my strong support system with family and friends. I have truly been blessed with great parents and a strong family structure that has guided me to be the person I am today.

Unfortunately, life does not function through the lens of fairness or equality. Many in our communities do not have access to the same support or resources that I did when I was growing up. The United States is one of the wealthiest nations in the world but yet and still, we have many of our fellow citizens living in poverty and struggling to meet their basic needs. I don't subscribe to the "Pack Animal" mentality because as humans we should be evolved in our thinking and understand that problems need people who are willing to create solutions and not just blame. Whether Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative, Rich or Poor, we all live in the US and in order to make it a better place we need to come up with actionable ideas that can help improve our low income and poverty stricken neighborhoods.
The goal of the Society Glo app is to build engagement between community, politics, and business. I will personally admit, that up until recently, I did not vote in any local, regional, or national election. Like most people in my community, I never believed that any elected official truly represented my interest. I still don’t know what the job description entails for a city council member, mayor, senator, assembly member, or congress person. If you were to ask most people in your community to tell you what does your congress person, governor, or state senator do for your community; 9 times out of 10 you would get a blank stare and a shoulder shrug. Especially if you are asking people of color or young people. There is a reason certain demographics are less likely to vote and it is because most don’t feel like their needs are being represented.
My biggest issue is the anonymity of our elected officials. When it is time for an election, we hear from the candidates around the clock. Once they get elected they all seem to disappear until the next election. I want to change how our elected officials interact with their constituents. Outside of town halls and city or county meetings, I would like to be able to hear from my elected representatives.
The same goes for the people who are in business leadership positions. These businesses want us to spend our dollars on their products or services but we don’t know what their corporate values are and whether or not they actually care about the communities that support their business. The Society Glo app was created to highlight the business leaders and politicians that are working hard to move our society forward.
Hopefully if you are reading this, you will get inspired to join the fight for a better society. I believe we are missing the mark by not fully utilizing our current mobile application technology for community enrichment. It is time to help everybody in society “Glo Up!”
